THE BATHROOM PROJECT.
For Five years now I brought a small point and shoot camera along with me every time I was out and alcohol would be involved. I wanted to document the in moment actions and blurry behaviors that would make a viewer feel like they were in the moment with these people. As the project progressed I found similar habits, similar interactions, and similar posing for the camera from all kinds of different people. In time every outing began to feel the same and people began to blur together. I began to question the purpose of going out. The purpose of drinking, why we drink to a state that sometimes we can't even remember. In your early twenties drinking culture is seen as such a glamorous thing (and sometimes it can be, don't get me wrong I love a night out) but at what point do we over do the drinking? Why do you drink? To have a good time? To have a better time? To be able to socialize? To make yourself feel better or to forget? We all do something along those lines. I'm not glorifying or shaming drinking in this project, but am trying to recognize the reasoning and purpose of behaviors when alcohol is involved. Something many of us forget to do.
