“Bendición Nana, Bendición Nano. Dios te bendiga Nena.”
I had the privilege to create an art piece for the AM: PM Brooklyn Showcase “Nueva York”, A latine Heritage Month Exhibition in October 2024.
As well as in “Amor Eterno”, a Dia de los Muertos Celebration, November 2025, Brooklyn, New York.
Growing up, this was the phrases my grandparents taught me to always say when greeting one another in our hellos and goodbyes.
No matter how rough life would get, no matter the troubles they faced, they counted their blessings every day. And throughout the years, they have taught their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to count our blessings and be grateful for the life God has given us. Together, they created a beautiful family unit that I am incredibly grateful for every day.
For this project, I asked my family members to send me their favorite images of our family and collaged the images between the two portraits of my grandparents.
My grandparents stand strongly, the pillars of our family, while the world they have created lies between them.
